Although the play was first staged in 1957,  the emotional, ambiguity and unconventional ending of the play leaves some questions unresolved. By setting the play in the contemporary world, we invited audiences to examine relationship dynamics among characters and their environment. The costumes depicted characters' inability to grasp their surroundings and their inner thoughts. The world of the play sets around Rose and everyone else is in somber clothing, seems to question the realistic and unrealistic characters in Rose's world.
